The Discovery Networks

Growing up, one of my favorite channels was the Discovery Channel. More often than not they had great documentaries about Egypt, which I loved, as well as other programs that were, for the most part, educational. It goes without saying that when Discovery expanded I was pretty happy. It seemed like overnight I had Animal Planet, TLC, The Travel Channel and The History Channel. Ah yes the History Channel, I am ashamed to admit I was one of those who complained about the plethora of WWII shows on History mockingly calling it the Hitler Channel. If I knew then what I know now however I would have encouraged documentary after documentary about WWII. Instead, we now have the Woo Channel with shows like the UFO files or Haunted Adventures. The worst part being the allusion to this crap being in anyway valid among real historians and scholars. It makes me wish for the days of hours of black and white footage of Nazi's marching to the insane tirade of the man with a funny mustache.
